Another question has come into Lincoln Trail and you can offer input. A new member has just obtained a 1987 Porsche 930 with 47k miles and is in the process of sorting it out. Their question; where can they find a mechanic who knows their way around a 930 in the Bloomington/Normal area? If you have or know of a mechanic who fits the question, please let us know.

Marcus, in Bloomington I don't know anyone. I'd say Kauth & Mayur in Peoria is the better bet. They did the engine on my 930 87 and I was very pleased.

ReplyDeleteEurosport is also an option. Is the 930 running?

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure for air-cooled but another member recommended Dave Hodge at R&R for my 928. He has done a lot of work for me on both my 928 and now my 996 and I have been satisfied. Might be worth a call 309-557-0177.
ReplyDeleteDear New Member
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your "new" purchase. Welcome to the club, look forward to meeting you personally.
Great Car! Sounds like lots of fun in the near future, look forward to seeing the car at one of the future functions.
I live in the Peoria area, but also lived in the Champaign area for many years. I personally take the time to drive my 944 Turbo to Rick Karch of Rick's Automotive in Champaign for all my work whenever possible. He has always done excellent work and treated me very fairly on prices and suggestions. He's a little quiet and on the dry side, but a great guy to have working on your car, very straight shooter with great knowledge and skill. He always has a number of Porsche's (and other fine imports) in his shop when I'm there. He was also a race mechanic in the past (maybe still does), and has set up a few Porsches for track and DE. Give him a look up if you're in the area (217)351-2662.
Hope that may help you or others.
